Year after year, NBA fans talk about how bad the All-Star Game has become.
The players don’t seem to care anymore, and there’s no actual incentive to compete or play hard.
Notably, we may have reached an all-time low with the 2023-24 edition.
The Eastern Conference team set multiple records, such as a 107-point second half, 211 total points scored, and 42 made three-pointers.
The game as a whole set a new mark with 397 combined points.
It reached a point in which Luka Doncic, who’s leading the league in scoring, took a shot from almost 70 feet just for the sake of it and wasn’t even close, and while he was having a blast, the fans didn’t like it one bit.
With that in mind, NBA analyst Brian Windhorst believes the only way to fix this game is by offering the players money to compete (via Get Up).
He states that the players are having fun, so there’s no reason to approach this game any differently, unless they get money.
“Write a check,” Windhorst said.

All-Stars usually make millions, so the fact that the league has to bribe them to care about a one-night event that’s supposed to be for the fans is far from what this game used to stand for.
This used to be an honor, and players took pride in this.
Now, the fans complain about it even being hard to watch.
Commissioner Adam Silver needs to come up with an idea to save this game, but one thing’s for sure: The players wouldn’t even dare take this same approach if guys like Kobe Bryant were still playing.
