No one, not even his biggest detractor, could argue that Kevin Durant is one of the greatest players in NBA history.

Nonetheless, given the way he’s handled some situations in his career, he doesn’t seem to have a big fan base or a lot of people rooting for him.

Some members of the media and former players have portrayed him in a certain way that’s not necessarily good.

Some claim he’s not a leader or can’t win on his own, yet they don’t seem to say the same thing about some of his colleagues.

Recently, Durant opened up on those narratives, and he admitted that he’s just not as charismatic as some of his peers or has a personality built for TV.

Talking for Boardroom, Durant stated that he hasn’t done enough to sell his brand or what he does off the court, mostly because he doesn’t feel like he has to do it (via NBA Central).

KD explains why he believes people in the media don’t think he’s a leader

“I’m not as charismatic as my peers. I don’t have a personality that’s like, fit for TV.”

However, he did admit that he doesn’t like when he’s labeled as a poor leader or an unhappy person.

Durant has embraced that villain role on social media, and that obviously hasn’t done him many favors.

Then again, he’s just a human being, and he’s always wanted to show that NBA players have emotions, frustrations, fears, and anger just like everybody else.

He’ll go down as one of the greatest in the history of this game, but as great as he is, it seems like he’s even more misunderstood.
