The Houston Texans are one of the brightest young teams in the NFL after unexpectedly going 10-7 during the regular season and routing the Cleveland Browns, 45-14, in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.

They have several studs on offense, including quarterback C.J. Stroud, who was named the Offensive Rookie of the Year, and wide receiver Nico Collins, but they could use a little help on defense.

On Tuesday, it was announced that the Texans had added a bit of depth by signing defensive end Marcus Haynes, per ProFootballTalk.

Haynes went undrafted last year after spending a full collegiate career at Old Dominion University.

The Denver Broncos originally signed him as an undrafted free agent days after the draft was held, and just before the regular season started, he made his way onto their practice squad.

The Broncos released him later in the regular season, and he ended up not playing in a single game during the 2023 campaign.

Houston wasn’t a bad defensive team this season, and they even finished first in passing touchdowns allowed.

But they could use reinforcements in some areas on that side of the football.

All in all, the Texans’ immediate future is very bright, and they may just need a few more pieces in order to become true contenders not too long from now.
