The 2023 season didn’t go as expected for the New York Giants.

After making the playoffs the prior year, the Giants finished the season with a 6-11 record, missing the playoffs by a wide margin.

While there are a few things that point to the Giants’ less-than-ideal season, including Daniel Jones’ injury, it appears that the organization is frustrated with the way things are going.

They could be gearing up for a massive reset, which could see some of the team’s staple players walk out the door.

Saquon Barkley is one player whose name has come up a lot in these conversations.

As Craig Carton recently pointed out on his show, “The New York Giants are gonna watch their best offensive player of the last four years walk right into the arms of an NFC East division opponent.”

Report: #Giants “highly unlikely” to tag Saquon Barkley…

This comment comes on the heels of reports indicating that the Giants are likely uninterested in putting the franchise tag on Barkley.

If Barkley does move on from the Giants in the offseason, Carton believes the Philadelphia Eagles could be an interested party.

While 2023 wasn’t his best statistical season, Barkley still showed that he has some gas left in the tank and that he can be a valuable asset for an NFL roster.

With the Eagles unlikely to retain D’Andre Swift, this could be a good match for them, especially since Barkley went to Penn State, as Carton points out.

The running back market seemed to be diminished in the 2023 offseason, so it will be interesting to see how they are valued this time around.
