The NBA will finally be back in action this week after time off for the All-Star Break, and the Los Angeles Lakers will be in primetime Thursday Night to take on the Golden State Warriors.

The Lakers and Warriors have struggled for most of the 2023-24 NBA season, but went into the break playing some of their best basketball.

Los Angeles in particular is a team on the rise as they’ve found their identity and seem to finally be settling into a groove.

Head coach Darvin Ham figured out the right rotation and substitution patterns, while the role players have begun to find ways to contribute behind LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

However, the roster hasn’t been able to stay healthy during the regular season as several players have been forced to miss extended time.

Unfortunately, Los Angeles will be without another rotation player as Christian Wood is set to miss multiple weeks with a knee injury via Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

“Christian Wood is out for approximately two weeks with swelling in this left knee,” McMenamin reported.

It’s unknown how Wood hurt his knee during the team’s time off, but regardless, it puts more pressure on Ham and the rest of the roster to stay afloat in the stretch run.

Wood hasn’t played big minutes, but is one of the few centers on the roster who can play alongside Davis.

The Lakers might have to resort to playing smaller more often than not, though the more preferable option would be for Wood to return sooner rather than later.
