Playing in the NBA has changed a lot due to the emergence of social media.
Players and fans are more connected than ever before, and this relationship has peeled back the curtain to reveal more background into the day in the life of an athlete.
For instance, players like Patrick Beverley and Draymond Green have gone head-first into podcasting, which has certainly shown light into behind-the-scenes situations.
One example of this is Beverley’s comments about his time at the Los Angeles Lakers that he revealed on his podcast.
He indicated how ruthless the Lakers fanbase is, saying, “They want you to score 30 every night.”
Patrick Beverley says he should’ve stayed off Twitter when playing on the Lakers:
“Lakers fanbase is a MFer… they want you to score 30 every night.”

He also revealed that it would have been in his best interest to stay off Twitter and other social media sites during this time, as fans used this as a way to try and get to him.
Beverley realized that, for him to fulfill their massive expectations, he would have to score more than 30 points just for them to be happy.
For context, Beverley has never scored more than 26 points in a game, so asking him to score more than 30 is a tall task, especially at this stage in his career.
This is just one example of what it is like to play in Los Angeles and the pressure that players are put under when they put on that Lakers uniform.
