The Boston Celtics are one of the most storied franchises in the NBA.

They have a long history of success and many legendary players have worn that uniform.

The 2011-2012 Celtics had some future Hall of Fame players.

One of those was Ray Allen.

Allen was the best three-point shooter in the NBA and was a vital part of that Celtics team.

Boston ended up losing in the Eastern Conference Finals that year to the Miami Heat.

What makes that loss worse is that Allen left the following offseason to join the Heat.

Many of the Celtics players felt betrayed as the Heat were one of their biggest rivals.

According to Legion Hoops, Paul Pierce said: “Before the series was over in Miami, we heard Ray Allen was already looking for houses in Miami…while we were trying to beat them to go to the championship.”

Paul Pierce on the long tension between Ray Allen and the Celtics:

If that is the case that is not a good look for Allen.

Even 10+ years since this happened there is still tension between some of the Celtics players and Allen.

Allen ended up joining the Heat and winning the championship the next season.

You can bet it was a tough pill to swallow for the Celtics players seeing Allen win the Finals with their rival.

But, Allen was towards the end of his career and he wanted to chase another ring.
