The Los Angeles Lakers’ first game back after the All-Star break wasn’t a great one, as they were taken down by the Golden State Warriors 128-110 on Thursday night.
Following that tough loss, D’Angelo Russell tried to ease the fear of fans who believe the chance of making the postseason is starting to slip away from the Lakers.
According to Lakers Nation, Russell said there was “no excuse” for the loss, admitting that “obviously we weren’t as sharp as we wanted to be.”
He reassured the Lakers faithful by stating, “We’ll be alright.”

Russell posted 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 9 assists during the game, while Anthony Davis led with 27 points and 15 rebounds and Austin Reaves produced 16 points.
The team was without LeBron James, which surely hurt their chances of claiming victory.
Additionally, head coach Darvin Ham claimed that Davis had lost his voice, making it very hard for him to direct the team.
There were a number of reasons for the loss, according to the Lakers.
But at this point in the season and with the record the team has, fans aren’t very happy with that because they feel like they’re simply excuses.
The Lakers are clinging to their ninth seed right now with a 30-27 record.
And while Russell said that the team will be okay, they have a tough road ahead.
They have to play the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night for their second game in two days.
Then they will face teams like the Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Clippers, Denver Nuggets, and Oklahoma City Thunder in the week ahead.
If they wish to score some wins against those highly competitive teams, the Lakers will need to eliminate the problems they had on Thursday and prove they really are “alright.”
