The Miami Dolphins are coming off another disappointing finish to their season.

For the second straight year, the Dolphins lost in the first round of the playoffs.

Now they are expected to make some changes this offseason.

First, they moved on from defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.

Then they named Anthony Weaver their new DC.

But, the most recent news about the Dolphins is the most surprising.

According to Mike Garafolo, the Dolphins informed cornerback Xavien Howard that he would be released at the start of the league year.

The #Dolphins have informed CB Xavien Howard he will be released at the start of the league year, sources tell me and @PSchrags. The four-time Pro Bowl selection is expected to have significant interest on the market.

Howard is a four-time Pro Bowl selection and was a first-team All-Pro in 2020.

The Dolphins would only make this move to create cap space, which is valuable heading into the offseason.

Miami felt that the production from Howard was not worth his monster contract.

But, releasing him will result in $23 million in dead money.

The Dolphins were hoping to have an elite cornerback duo of Jalen Ramsey and Howard for years to come but it did not work out.

Crazy he was supposed to shine with Ramsey

But many Dolphins fans think Howard was past his prime and they understand this move.

He’s washed unfortunately, but I wish him the best

Howard was one of the most productive cornerbacks in the NFL during his time with the Dolphins.

It will be interesting to see how much interest he garners from other teams.

Where do y’all think he ends up?

Even though injuries have caught up to Howard, he can still be a starting cornerback for some teams.

This move may come as a surprise to many, but the Dolphins had to do what was necessary to improve their team moving forward.
