Analyst Believes 1 QB Prospect Is Underrated

With the 2023 NFL season now in the rearview for every team in the league, the focus heading into the offseason is on the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft and which players have the potential to star on the next level.

As usual, the bulk of the attention is attributed to players at the quarterback position, as teams desperate to upgrade the position will be looking for potential franchise players under center.

Unlike last season, which had four potential franchise quarterbacks with Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud leading the way, this year, only two or three have the potential to lead a team for the foreseeable future.

The top prospect in the draft is Caleb Williams out of the University of Southern California, as many believe he could be a star right away, but after that, there’s a significant dropoff with Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels expected to be taken at No. 2 and No. 3.

However, one quarterback that could make some noise from now until draft day on April 25 is University of Michigan star J.J. McCarthy, who may be better than many think, according to Benjamin Allbright of KOA 850 AM & 94.1 FM.

“As multiple evaluators said to me…McCarthy wasn’t asked to do as much as he CAN do. Michigan was just that good. But when they did ask him, he executed,” Allbright said.

Along with this graphic showing McCarthy’s ability to come through in big moments, former Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh has had nothing but high praise for his former quarterback, as he believes McCarthy is the top prospect at his position.

Obviously, Harbaugh hasn’t watched what Williams did at USC, but McCarthy may still get a bump in some mock drafts if this kind of information continues to come out in his favor.
