The Pittsburgh Steelers haven’t gotten much production from their quarterbacks dating back to Ben Roethlisberger’s final two seasons.
The fans are starting to lose their patience, and rightfully so, as they haven’t seen much growth from Kenny Pickett.
That’s why most analysts believe it’s about time they move on from their former first-round pick and pursue another quarterback.
With that in mind, NFL analyst Mike Greenberg asked former GM Mike Tannenbaum whether he would pursue Kirk Cousins or Justin Fields if he were calling the shots in Pittsburgh (via ESPN Radio).
“If I’m Mike Tomlin, I’m looking at the longer term view of things. Justin Fields is younger than Kenny Pickett,” Tannenbaum said.

Tannenbaum didn’t hesitate to side with Fields, arguing that he’s actually younger than Kenny Pickett and that the Steelers would have him on a reasonable deal.
He also stated that Fields is similar to Ryan Tannehill, who had the best years of his career with Arthur Smith as his offensive coordinator.
Tannenbaum argues that both Fields and Tannehill are strong, big, and athletic, so he could benefit from Smith’s offense and all the pieces the Steelers could put around him.
Truth be told, Pickett hasn’t done much to help his case as the Steelers’ quarterback for the future, and Fields seems to have the higher upside.
Perhaps all Pickett needs is someone different calling the shots and running the offense, but the risk of not making a move could be just too big.
Now, whether the Steelers will actually move on from their franchise guy or not remains to be seen.
