NFL players have entered an era of empowerment and that goes way beyond the field.

They have that same mindset even well after their playing days are over, and rightfully so.

That’s why former NFL star Ryan Clark made sure to make the most of his leverage and let everybody know his displeasure with ESPN over a new contract.

Both parties went back and forth, and the former defensive star even threatened to leave the network.

Now, a report by Andrew Marchand of The Athletic reveals that he’s verbally agreed to remain at ESPN.

After an outspoken negotiation period where NFL analyst Ryan Clark threatened to leave ESPN, he has verbally agreed to remain at the network, sources tell @AndrewMarchand.

Clark’s deal expired shortly before the Super Bowl, but both parties agreed to extend it through the end of the season.

He took to Twitter to shed some light on the situation, claiming that he didn’t know whether he was going to stay there and adding that he wouldn’t lose his motivation to continue his career in that landscape even if ESPN didn’t bring him back on another contract.

Now, the expectation is that ESPN will announce the contract extension in the near future.

Of course, the network rarely makes those kinds of announcements, but Clark made it a big story with his activity on social media.

He hosted “Inside the NFL” and was a regular presence on both “Monday Night Countdown” and “NFL Live.”

Clark will also continue with “The Pivot Podcast,” although it has no association with the network.
