ESPN created quite a stir on Monday when they predicted that Bronny James wouldn’t be selected for this year’s draft and had a better chance of reaching the NBA in 2025 instead.
And then LeBron James created an even bigger stir when he tweeted support for his son.
In a series of tweets, James demeaned the idea of ESPN’s mock draft, giving an impassioned plea for people to ignore it and simply focus on a young player’s abilities.
He then took down his social media posts.
Skip Bayless believes that James did this because it was putting undue attention on his son.
“LeBron took those tweets down because he realized he was drawing more attention. Everybody’s leaped to the conclusion that Bronny will go to the NBA next year,” Bayless said on Twitter Tuesday morning.

James has every right to stand up for his son and to show his support and belief.
However, when someone like him speaks up, everyone listens and it only draws more attention and continues any conversation.
Already, James’ statement has been the talk of the sports world and has garnered a ton of headlines and commentary from people like Bayless and others.
Bronny already has a tough time because he is consistently compared to his legendary father.
Additionally, his first season at USC has been a mixed bag, with him producing 5.5 points per game with plenty of room for growth.
There is a good chance that ESPN is correct and James doesn’t make the NBA this year, which might create an even bigger stir.
If that happens, it’ll be interesting to see if LeBron speaks out or holds his tongue as a way to avoid adding more pressure to his son.
