The Atlanta Falcons headed into the 2023 NFL season with high hopes of finally being able to turn things around in the post-Matt Ryan era, as the team was set to lean on Desmond Ridder to be its starter under center moving forward.

Although Ridder was a promising young prospect, he didn’t pan out the way the team had hoped, as he was eventually benched and labeled a draft bust for the Falcons.

With the team moving on from Ridder as its starting quarterback, Atlanta is determined to upgrade the position during this NFL offseason, with plenty of options at the team’s disposal.

After parting ways with head coach Arthur Smith right after the season was done, the team searched for its new head coach and brought in Raheem Morris, formerly of the Los Angeles Rams.

During the NFL Combine, Morris made it clear that the team is going after a quarterback during the offseason and apparently has an “aggressive plan” to upgrade the position, via “The Rich Eisen Show.”

With the Falcons owning the No. 8 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, it will be interesting to see if the team brings in another rookie quarterback or decides to go the veteran route, with some notable names expected to be available, like Russell Wilson and Kirk Cousins.

Needless to say, the Falcons have options as Morris starts his stint as head coach, as the team will almost certainly find an upgrade for their leader under center and start making strides to be a better all-around franchise moving forward.
