The Golden State Warriors will visit the Washington Wizards on Tuesday, which means they will go up against Jordan Poole, a key player on their 2022 championship team.
Poole provided Golden State with hot shooting and some occasional playmaking that season, but he has been struggling mightily this season after being traded to the nation’s capital last summer.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr still seems to like Poole, and he said he wants the guard to reach his potential, per NBC Sports.
“He’s one of the main reasons we won the championship,” Kerr said.
He added: “I really want him to reach his potential.”

Poole was sent to Washington in the trade that brought Golden State Chris Paul, and at the time, some questioned the wisdom of the deal, especially considering the fact that Paul is 38 years of age and isn’t even close to the player he was just a few years ago.
But Poole is just 24 years of age and in his fifth season, so he could still have room for improvement.
With the Wizards, who have the NBA’s second-worst record, he isn’t getting the same type of good looks he got with the Warriors, and perhaps that’s a factor in him shooting 39.9 percent overall and 30.9 percent from 3-point range this season.
The Warriors aren’t quite what they were in the 2022 season either, and they currently sit in 10th place in the Western Conference with a 29-27 record.
However, they have won 10 of their last 13 games, and if they keep up at least a good part of that momentum the rest of the season, they could be a dangerous team once they reach the postseason.
