Over the past couple of years, the Minnesota Vikings have looked to shed off as much salary as they possibly could.
They still managed to be somewhat competitive, but it seems like it’s just a matter of time before this team fully pivots into a rebuild.
There has been a lot of speculation regarding Kirk Cousins’ future, as paying him big bucks, especially at this point in his career and coming off a major injury, might not be the wisest decision for this franchise.
With that in mind, some believe they could also be ready to move on from star wide receiver Justin Jefferson, who could fetch a historical return for his services, should that be the case.
That’s why Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah wanted to make it loud and clear that their superstar wideout isn’t available, nor will he ever be.
Talking to ESPN’s Kevin Seifert, Adofo-Mensah admitted that he’s never even considered trading Jefferson, so those rumors should just go away right now (Via Adam Schefter).
“You got a blue[-chip] player, a blue[-chip] person, you try to keep as many of those as you can,” he said.
Trading star receiver Justin Jefferson “is not something that’s once crossed my mind,” Minnesota Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah told reporters Tuesday at the NFL scouting combine.

This is far from a surprise, as the Vikings should only consider moving Jefferson if he’s not happy in the Twin Cities and greenlights any potential move.
The Vikings are more than likely to make him the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history.
He’s earned that right, and even though he missed plenty of time with a soft-tissue injury last season, he’s going to be back to full strength and posting video game-like numbers next season.
Whether Kirk Cousins will be the one throwing him the football or not remains to be seen.
