The Athletic’s Dianna Russini has shared an interesting update on the NFL’s quarterback carousel.

Russini spent roughly a week at the NFL Combine gathering information about the upcoming draft and free agency market, and she shared that the QB market all starts with Kirk Cousins.

With so many teams looking for a new QB, it appears everything might have to wait until that first domino falls.

The QB market all starts with Kirk Cousins.
Minnesota wants to keep him but they may have to fend off Atlanta, Denver, or possibly even Washington. Plus, Baker isn’t a lock back to Tampa and Justin Fields soft market for now.

Russini packed a lot of possibilities into one tweet.

She noted that while the Vikings are looking to keep Cousins in Minnesota, there will be no shortage of suitors trying to pry him away.

The Commanders and Falcons both have top-8 picks in the upcoming draft but could opt to make a run at Cousins instead of going with a rookie.

Russini mentions the Broncos as an option as well with Russell Wilson clearly on his way out of town.

The other QB dominos Russini mentioned in her article for The Athletic are even more uncertain, as she mentioned Baker Mayfield not being a lock to return to Tampa Bay, while Justin Fields’ trade market is still unrealized despite the Bears’ increasing likelihood to move on from him.

After leading the Buccaneers on a surprising run to the Divisional Round of the playoffs on a one-year deal, it was a reasonable assumption that Baker’s days in Tampa would continue.

Entering the open market would further complicate an already crowded QB landscape.

With so many accomplished quarterbacks looking for new homes, it will be interesting to see which teams pounce on them and which teams opt to wait for this loaded draft class.
