On Saturday night, LeBron James became the first NBA player to reach 40,000 career points, which is a major feat that might not ever be repeated.

Nike chose to honor James’ big moment with a new billboard in New York City.

An image shared by TickPick, via NBACentral, shows a billboard with James and the caption, “40K+10K+10K=1.”

The billboard also shows an image of history-making college superstar Caitlin Clark with the caption, “This was never a long shot.”

Many companies and NBA icons both from the present and past celebrated James when he passed 40,000 points on Saturday.

It was a truly unique moment that has never been seen before in league history.

But even though James notched yet another historic feat in his belt during Saturday’s game, his Lakers still lost to the Denver Nuggets at home.

This is a pattern that has been repeated multiple times over the last few years: James has made NBA history and earned a ton of praise while his Lakers have had a hard time and eventually come up short.

The Lakers will be at home for the next four games, playing the Oklahoma City Thunder, Sacramento Kings, Milwaukee Bucks, and Minnesota Timberwolves at Crypto.com Arena.

After Saturday’s loss, James and the Lakers are desperate for some wins against those tough teams.

They are still the tenth seed in the West and are constantly battling against the Golden State Warriors for the spot above that.

James has been having a phenomenal and historic season but the Lakers aren’t doing as well.

Time is once again running out for the team.

Last season, they were able to turn things around and had a strong run in the playoffs.

Will they be able to do that again this year?
