Over the course of his playing and coaching career in the NFL, Ron Rivera has had his fair share of successes and failures, which have led him to become unemployed once again following a disappointing stint as head coach of the Washington Commanders.

Once the 2023 NFL season was officially over for the Commanders, the team’s new brass didn’t hesitate to part ways with the veteran head coach, as he failed to move the needle during his time as the leader on the sideline in the nation’s capital.

However, it doesn’t seem that Rivera went unemployed for long, as he may be transitioning to another role as a member of the media, becoming an analyst for ESPN.

This is a pretty common transition for out-of-work head coaches in the NFL, as most of the time, they become members of the media while waiting for another opportunity to coach on the professional or college level.

As Desmond Purnell of WUSA9 points out, Rivera made his first appearance on ESPN and might be settling in for what could be a long break from coaching.

The Commanders didn’t take too long to find Rivera’s successor, as the storied NFL franchise chose to go with former Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, who had experience as a head coach on the professional level.

Along with Rivera, some other big-name head coaches lost their jobs and failed to find another gig right away, with Bill Belichick and Mike Vrabel also set to miss the 2024 NFL season unless picked up by other teams in some capacity outside of being a head coach.
