The New York Giants have decided to allow Saquon Barkley to test out free agency.
That could prove to be a costly decision, especially considering he has no limitations whatsoever regarding the teams he could join.
Notably, it seems like the Penn State product could look to head to a rival, as Ryan Dunleavy reports that there’s mutual interest between him and the Philadelphia Eagles, adding that a potential deal is a ‘real possibility’ (via Dov Kleiman).

All things considered, this is far from a surprise.
Besides the obvious ties to the organization, having the chance to play against the Giants twice a year should be quite appealing.
The team didn’t show him the value and respect he thought he had earned throughout the course of the years, and we’ve seen professional athletes make these kinds of decisions out of spite multiple times in history.
On top of that, the Eagles have a glaring need for a top-notch running back, as D’Andre Swift is also a free agent.
Nick Sirianni’s team also gives Barkley a big chance to play for a Super Bowl contender, which is something he wouldn’t get with the Giants.
Barkley has been one of the most impactful offensive players in the game when healthy, but he’s also struggled to stay on the field for most of his career.
Now, he could play behind one of the strongest offensive lines in the game.
