Following the departure of longtime head coach Bill Belichick earlier this year, many are expecting the New England Patriots to make a lot of changes during the next few months.
On Friday, however, the Patriots reportedly agreed to bring back a familiar face for a few more years.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, New England and veteran tight end Hunter Henry have agreed to a new deal that will keep him under contract with the team for the next three seasons.

According to Rapoport, Henry’s new contract is for three years, and it’s worth up to $30 million.
The veteran tight end has been a member of New England’s roster since the 2021 season, and the team clearly believes he can still help them accomplish some of the goals they have set for the future.
In 14 appearances with the Patriots this past season, Hunter wound up finishing with 42 catches for 419 yards and six touchdowns.
It was the third time in his NFL career that he ended a season with six touchdown catches or more.
During his three years with New England, Henry has hauled in a total of 133 passes for 1,531 yards and 17 touchdowns.
Obviously, he hasn’t been putting up numbers like Travis Kelce, George Kittle, or any of the other top tight ends in the league, but the amount of money the Patriots gave him on Friday makes it clear that they think he still provides plenty of value to their offense.
Henry has been in the NFL since 2016, when he was selected in the second round of that year’s draft by the Los Angeles Chargers.
