The Boston Celtics are the best team in the NBA right now with a 48-14 record.

But when you dig into their record, you see a concerning trend that could prevent them from winning their 18th championship.

As noted by Legion Hoops, the Celtics are just 2-5 against the top-four seeds in the Western Conference.

However, they are 46-9 against all the other teams in the league.

This is obviously an issue because if they reach the Finals, they will be playing against the best of the West.

And, right now, they don’t have great luck against superior teams in that conference.

Thursday night was a prime example of that: the Celtics were taken down by the Denver Nuggets for the second time this season.

Many people think the Nuggets could be on their way to another Finals appearance, so could the Celtics beat them in seven games if they meet them there?

The Celtics are much better than the rest of the competition in their conference, sitting 7.5 games ahead of the second-place Milwaukee Bucks.

That doesn’t mean that they have a one-way ticket to the Finals, because a lower-seeded team could overpower them in the playoffs.

That happened last season when the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks were shocked by the Miami Heat in the opening round.

However, if the Celtics continue to play as they have been, they are the odds-on favorites to beat the rest of the East and battle for a championship.

That means they need to figure out how to conquer the Nuggets and the other superior teams in the Western Conference.

The regular season is coming to a close and time is running out for the Celtics to figure this out.
