On Thursday night in the Mile High City, the defending NBA champion Denver Nuggets put on a show against the visiting Boston Celtics at Ball Arena, with Nikola Jokic and company proving why they may still be the best team in the league moving forward.

Even though the Celtics have the best record in the league right now, Jayson Tatum and company were put to the test on the road at one of the toughest places to play in the NBA, as Mike Malone’s squad had no intention of losing this game at home in Denver.

This was a marquee matchup and a potential NBA Finals preview, with these two elite teams competing for the distinction of the league’s best team heading into the final stretch of the regular season.

Although Boston has made a strong case for being the league’s best all-around squad this season, Jokic and his teammates may have put that to rest on Thursday night, as Chris Broussard of FOX Sports suggests via “First Things First.”

“I think Denver is the best team in the league,” Broussard said. “Jokić is the best player in the league and they should be favored to win the title. But the Nuggets didn’t look unbeatable to the point where the Celtics should be demoralized.

No matter what the Celtics threw at Jokic in this game in Denver, the two-time NBA MVP always seemed to come out on top while getting some help from Aaron Gordon, Jamal Murray, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.

With the win, it’s safe to say that the Nuggets are the team to beat moving forward, and the Celtics have a bit more work to do before they are on the same level.
