With last season’s devastating playoff collapse still fresh in mind, Cowboys fans are surely clinging to anything they can find to help move on from the team’s latest shortcoming.

Star edge rusher Micah Parsons posted a reassuring message on X, reminding fans that it’s not all so bad.

PFF posted some of Parsons’ historic numbers from 2023, including how he led all defenders with 103 pressures and a 21.7 percent pressure rate, to which Parsons responded “Next year we will be even better! I promise!”

Parsons is off to a dominant start to his career with 40.5 sacks and seven forced fumbles while missing only one game over his first three years in the league.

The notion that Parsons could continue to improve upon these numbers is frightening to think about.

Dallas had one of the league’s best defenses in 2023 largely due to Parsons’ dominance, and the soon-to-be 25-year-old will be relied upon heavily with edge rushers Dorance Armstrong and Dante Fowler Jr. hitting free agency.

The path up for Parsons likely comes in the form of more sacks and team success.

Parsons finished third in Defensive Player of the Year voting in 2023 behind Myles Garrett and T.J. Watt.

Watt had 19 sacks, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and an interception in 2023.

Garrett posted 14 sacks and four forced fumbles while playing through an injury to lead the NFL’s No. 1 defense to the playoffs despite using five different quarterbacks.

Hopefully for Cowboys fans, Parsons isn’t just promising more quarterback pressures, but also some playoff victories.
