There’s a ton of change in store for the New England Patriots this offseason following the departure of 6-time Super Bowl champion coach Bill Belichick as well as the possession of the No. 3 pick in the draft.

The Pats also have the third-most cap space in the NFL to work with according to Spotrac, but they will reportedly not be using any of that $75.2 million on one of their biggest free agents.

The Boston Globe has reported that veteran left tackle Trent Brown is not likely to return to the team after three seasons in New England.

After nine years in the NFL and two stints with the Patriots, the journeyman will be looking for a new home once again.

Brown is coming off an injury-plagued 2023 season where he missed six games, but committed just one penalty.

The soon-to-be 31-year-old also missed eight games in 2021 and committed nine penalties last season.

The veteran rejoined the Pats in March of 2021 after a trade from the Raiders, which was the second time in three years the Pats traded for him.

New England also brought him in from the 49ers in 2018, and he helped lead the Pats to a Super Bowl title.

Las Vegas traded him just two years into the 4-year, $66 million deal he signed after winning that Super Bowl.

Left tackle now becomes a major priority for the Patriots, who could be bringing in a rookie quarterback with the No. 3 pick and need to make sure he is protected.

Brown will carry a $2 million cap hit for New England and should be one of the most coveted tackles in a thin free-agent market at the position.
