Not so long ago, NFL scouts and fans alike deemed Trevor Lawrence the best quarterback prospect since Peyton Manning.

He’s shown glimpses of greatness during his days in the league, especially since Doug Pederson took over.

His first season wasn’t exactly impressive, but it was hard to blame him, given everything that transpired during Urban Meyer’s brief tenure there.

But now that he didn’t take much of a leap in his third year, some have started questioning whether he’s ever going to live up to that potential.

Needless to say, the doubts only got louder as soon as the news of the Mac Jones trade broke.

Some people took to Twitter to predict that Jones would take Lawrence’s starting spot for the Jaguars.

Mac Jones is a Jacksonville native and grew up a Jaguars fan, and he’s going to be extremely motivated to prove that he belongs in the league.

Then again, the Jaguars still seem quite invested in the Clemson product, and they’re going to give their No. 1 pick every single chance they can.

Lawrence could be an MVP candidate with the supporting cast he has there, and to be fair, he struggled with injuries last season, so it’s not like their late-season debacle was all on him.

Perhaps, all he needs to take another leap and fulfill his potential is a little competition, and while Jones didn’t show much during his days with the New England Patriots, he’s going to put a lot of pressure on his shoulders.
