The New England Patriots have put an end to the Mac Jones era.

He was abysmal last season and failed to bounce back after a subpar second year in the league, and it became evident that both parties needed a fresh start.

However, as bad as he was, his regression was a byproduct of the Patriots’ inability to put him in a position to succeed according to former NFL QB Dan Orlovsky.

Orlovsky put the Patriots on blast for the way they dealt with him.

“If you want a 101 of how to ruin a young, promising quarterback, look at what’s happened with Mac Jones and his career in New England,” Orlovsky said.

Talking on ESPN’s Get Up, the former QB stated that the Patriots had some bad coaching and didn’t give him a supporting cast that was enough for him to take a step forward.

He stated that the Patriots were solely responsible for ruining a young and promising quarterback, adding that it’s not about drafting them but about actually helping them thrive and develop.

Orlovsky also stated that the Patriots could take a quarterback with the No. 3 pick this season, but urged them not to play him, as their roster isn’t anywhere close to being good enough to help whoever they pick.

As for Jones, he’ll now look to get his career back on track as a backup with the Jacksonville Jaguars, hoping they don’t turn their backs on him like the Patriots did.
