The New York Giants haven’t done much to help their cause lately, and things could only get worse.

They might lose star safety Xavier McKinney, and they could regress significantly at the running back position.

NFL insider Connor Hughes reports that they’re ready to pivot from Saquon Barkley, as both the Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Texans are expected to be heavy players for his services and could look to meet his financial demands.

With that in mind, the Giants could look to their own division for a replacement, making a run at former Dallas Cowboys RB Tony Pollard.

If the #Giants were to lose Saquon Barkley to the #Eagles or #Texans, both of whom are involved at $10m+ APY, they will pivot quickly. Name to watch: Tony Pollard, the ex #Cowboys running back.

Also expect #Giants to be involved heavily in IOL market, namely with Mike Onwenu &…

Hughes also states that the Giants want to land either Mike Onwenu or Robert Hunt to revamp their struggling offensive line, although they would likely have to pay up to get any of these players.

Needless to say, going from Barkley to Pollard would be a step backward for this team.

Pollard was efficient as a third-down or change-of-pace back with Ezekiel Elliott in town, but didn’t make much of an impact as the alpha dog in Mike McCarthy’s offense.

On top of that, the prospect of having to face Barkley twice a year and having to watch him play for arguably the strongest team in the division would be tough for the fans.

The Giants also need to figure out what to do at the quarterback position, with several rumors circling around Daniel Jones.

Whatever the case, it doesn’t seem like this team will be much better in the foreseeable future.
