The New York Yankees seem poised to have a bounce-back season in 2024.
At least that is what their fanbase and the organization expect.
Seeing what the Yankees did this offseason leads to that type of optimism.
Adding perennial MVP candidate Juan Soto was a great move, as he should be in for a career year playing in Yankee Stadium.
But, for their Yankees to reach their potential they need to pitch well.
That all starts with reigning AL Cy Young winner Gerrit Cole.
Cole is coming off the first Cy Young season of his illustrious career.
But, the start of 2024 has not been as promising.
According to Jon Heyman, Cole will be getting an MRI on his elbow, as he is having more trouble recovering from an outing than usual.

This is not good for Cole.
Anytime you have elbow discomfort as a pitcher there is cause for concern.
Many Yankees fans are not optimistic about the impending result of the MRI.

The Yankees have struggled to stay healthy in recent years.
That is part of the reason why they have underachieved.
But, this injury could open the Yankees up to signing another starting pitcher.
Luckily for them, both Blake Snell and Jordan Montgomery are available.

New York has never been shy to spend money.
Depending on what happens to Cole they could be in play for another big arm.
The hope is that Cole will get good news on his MRI and will not miss much time.

No matter what team you are a fan of, MLB is always better when its best players are healthy.
