With the Los Angeles Chargers moving forward with newcomer Gus Edwards as their starting running back coming out of the backfield, veteran back Austin Ekeler will look for a new home in the NFL, which was a move that was expected this offseason.

Although Ekeler has had some injury issues over the years, he remains one of the most productive and versatile running backs in the league, as he’s equally impactful as a runner and a receiver.

That said, Ekeler will have a market for his services heading into NFL free agency this week, with the 28-year-old still among the best backs in the NFL and a solid offensive weapon.

According to Josina Anderson of CBS Sports, Ekeler is currently getting interest from the Washington Commanders and Las Vegas Raiders.

I’m told the #Commanders and #Raiders have made preliminary inquiries on RB Austin Ekeler, per source.

Both the Raiders and Commanders lost running backs in free agency on Monday, with one-time All-Pro Josh Jacobs agreeing to a deal with the Green Bay Packers, while Antonio Gibson chose to take his talents to the New England Patriots.

The addition of Ekeler would be an upgrade for the Commanders, while he’d also be a welcomed addition to the Las Vegas backfield as Jacobs’ successor.

It’ll be interesting to see where Ekeler lands and how much the versatile veteran back gets paid, as he wasn’t happy with the Chargers over the past couple of years as he feels he was taken advantage of and was underpaid, which is what most running backs in the NFL feel these days.
