The New York Yankees offense is looking good these days.

Granted, it’s only spring training and stats don’t matter much, but they have many players taking quality at-bats and swinging the bat well.

One of those players is Anthony Rizzo.

Watching Rizzo dominate, even if it’s in exhibition games, means a lot to the Yankees, fans, and himself after the year he had in 2023.

Last season, he was cruising and having one of his best seasons in recent memory when he collided with Fernando Tatis Jr. at first base on May 28.

Up until that day, he was hitting .304 with 11 home runs in 204 at-bats.

After that, however, he hit .172 with just one home run in 169 at-bats.

It took a while, but he was diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome after cognitive tests showed his reaction times were slower than usual.

He was shut down in September as a result.

This time, however, he seems much more alert and he is performing well at the plate, signs that he is leaving that scary injury behind.

After a three-hit day on Wednesday, he is now slashing an impressive .522/.621/.870 with two homers and a 1.491 OPS.

The real test will obviously take place when the regular season starts.

Evidently, Rizzo’s line has been somewhat inflated by the level of competition he has faced.

However, he has been the Yankees’ best player in the spring and that means something.

It means he is in shape and in good form when he takes at-bats.

It means he is finally healthy.

And it means he can dream about a rebound campaign, with 25-30 home runs and a nice OBP in the Yankees’ suddenly potent lineup.
