In a relatively unsurprising move, the Los Angeles Chargers released Mike Williams early on in free agency.

While Williams was a beloved player by the fanbase, the organization appeared to be very concerned about his age and injury history.

This move saved the Chargers $20 million in cap space, which might have sealed the deal on their decision.

Williams is now a free agent, and while he might not have many years left, he could be a valuable piece for a contender, if only for one season.

After hearing the news of his release, Craig Carton spoke about a great potential landing spot for him in a segment of his show.

“Mike Williams will be introduced as the newest member of the Kansas City Chiefs,” Carton said.

On the surface, this prediction could make sense for both parties.

Williams could join a team that has won two straight Super Bowls, and the Chiefs would gain a veteran receiver who has played well throughout his career.

One of the biggest questions surrounding the Chiefs this offseason has been in regards to their wide receiver room.

Rashee Rice played well in his rookie campaign, but there are concerns that the Chiefs need to add at least one more piece to this offense for it to flow most efficiently.

They could still target someone in the draft, but in the meantime, if Williams is willing to take a reduced deal to play for a winning team, the Chiefs likely wouldn’t say no to him.
