Over the past few months, a lot has been made about Bronny James and whether he has what it takes at this point in his playing career at the University of Southern California to make the jump to the NBA level next year.
The consensus right now seems to be that James doesn’t have what it takes, as he’s a bench player on a bad team at the college level and clearly needs more time to develop his skills before entering the NBA Draft.
However, all signs seem to be leaning toward James entering the 2024 NBA Draft, which makes things interesting because his father, Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James, wants to play with his son on the professional level someday.
With LeBron publicly stating that he wants to play with Bronny, teams around the league that would love to have the future Hall of Famer on their team might be willing to bring in the young kid out of USC.
According to an unnamed Eastern Conference executive, NBA teams are preparing to see Bronny in the upcoming draft, with teams expected to be interested in his services if there’s even a slight chance that LeBron signs with them, per ESPN via NBACentral.
“I think everyone is preparing for him to go in the draft, and I’m dead serious — I think a lot of teams will take the stance that they’ll draft him if there’s a 1% chance LeBron will join them. So, I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t enter. Will he stay in, I don’t know,” the executive said.

At this point in time, there’s no telling what will happen with this situation, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility that Bronny gets drafted, LeBron opts out of his deal with the Lakers, and then signs with the team that drafted his son.
Only time will tell, as this situation seems to change every week.
