The 2023-24 NBA season hasn’t gone according to plan for the Milwaukee Bucks, who are second in the Eastern Conference but have shown some disturbing signs of inconsistent play.

The Bucks fired former head coach Adrian Griffin halfway through his first season with the team and brought in Doc Rivers.

Rivers was supposed to bring more experience and leadership to the team, but the results on the floor have been mixed at best.

Milwaukee has strung together some wins the past couple of weeks, but questions about their defense and health have begun to diminish their championship odds.

Even with the Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard tandem, the Bucks don’t seem as strong of a contender on paper as previously expected.

NBA legend Eddie Johnson believes that Milwaukee could be looking at an early playoff exit given how they’ve looked so far, via SiriusXM NBA Radio.

“I think they’re in trouble,” Johnson said. “I do. I think they’re in serious trouble based on the trades that they made and now not being able to cover for them.”

Johnson is referring to the Lillard blockbuster that sent out Jrue Holiday, who was their best perimeter defender.

Lillard’s found himself offensively after a slow start to the regular season, but he’s more of a liability as a defender.

Antetokounmpo, meanwhile, has had an underrated season but the supporting cast isn’t as strong as previous years.

With the regular season winding down, Milwaukee’s running out of time to pull themselves together in what is shaping up to be a competitive Eastern Conference.
