Ever since the San Francisco 49ers lost in the Super Bowl to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, the immediate future of wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has been up in the air, as there has been talk of the team potentially trading him elsewhere.
Although 49ers general manager John Lynch has maintained that the team intends to sign Aiyuk to a contract extension, San Francisco still hasn’t gotten a deal done with him, and it appears the outspoken wide receiver is stoking the fire a bit that he could be on the move.
According to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team, Aiyuk took to Twitter recently and tagged Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin in a tweet saying that people think they’re twins.

2nd year JPJ and a first round picm for a WR that would have to be paid north of $20mil annually would never happen in any universe

Obviously, that’s a weird tweet to say out of nowhere, especially with an uncertain situation unfolding in San Francisco, but it didn’t stop fans from reacting and speculating that he could be on his way to Pittsburgh to play for the longtime head coach.
With the Steelers needing some help in the wide receiver department after recently parting ways with Diontae Johnson in a trade to the Carolina Panthers, Aiyuk would be an ideal addition to the squad, especially now that the team has some more stability at quarterback with Russell Wilson and Justin Fields.
It’ll be interesting to see how things unfold for Aiyuk and whether he ends up landing in Pittsburgh or stays put in San Francisco.
