The upcoming NFL Draft is stacked at the most crucial position in the game.

As many as six quarterbacks could potentially be taken in the first-round and it hasn’t been easy to stand out from the rest of the pack, especially with Caleb Williams likely cemented as the No. 1 pick.

Nonetheless, that doesn’t mean Shedeur Sanders wouldn’t have had a chance.

At least, that’s how his father, Deion, seems to think.

Talking at a press conference, the NFL legend wanted to make it loud and clear that he knows for a fact that Shedeur could’ve been one of the first — if not the first — quarterback off the board this year, although he would’ve most likely been the second (via GOATS):

“Shedeur – let’s just get this straight. Let’s get the elephant in the room. Shedeur would have been a high draft pick this year,” said Sanders. “Let’s just stop the foolishness and you get mad when I tell you,” Sanders said.

However, Deion thought his son could benefit from an additional year in college, which is why he made the somewhat surprising decision to return to Boulder.

Shedeur had a lot of buzz around him dating back to his days at Jackson State, and his play in Colorado was remarkable.

He threw for 3,230 yards on 69.3% completion for 27 touchdowns and three picks, all while rushing for another four touchdowns.

However, he did take 52 sacks and his play was affected by late-season injuries.

The talent and the physical traits are most definitely there, and so are the connections.

Even so, Coach Prime didn’t want his son to make any rash decisions and put himself in a position to struggle at the next level.

Now, he’s not only going to be in the mix to win the Heisman Trophy but also to be the No. 1 selection next year.
