To say that this has been a tough season for the Portland Trail Blazers should be considered a major understatement.

They’ve only managed to win 19 games, and what was supposed to be a promising season for their young players has been hampered by injuries.

On top of that, they’ve made the wrong kind of history this season.

As pointed out by Ball Don’t Lie, they now have suffered two of the only nine 60-point losses in NBA history.

There have been nine losses of 60 points or more in NBA history.

Chauncey Billups’ team has struggled mightily on defense this season, as shown in their 142-82 blowout loss to the Miami Heat.

Anfernee Simons missed plenty of time in what was supposed to be his breakout year.

No. 3 pick Scoot Henderson struggled mightily as a starter, and he also has missed time.

Deandre Ayton has been dominant at times, but he hasn’t been consistent.

Young guard Shaedon Sharpe, on the other hand, showed glimpses of greatness but was also forced to miss plenty of time with an injury.

It’s hard to know what to make of this team right now.

Billups’ coaching and development have left something to be desired, but letting him go wouldn’t do much to help this team, as he might need more time to establish an identity and build a winning culture.

Fortunately for them, they’re projected to have a top-five pick and another selection in the lottery, so that should do wonders for their promising project.

Then again, it might be a while before they’re back to even sniffing playoff contention.
