The Phoenix Suns have been one of the most — if not the most — disappointing team in the NBA this season.
We’re talking about a team that was expected to fight for the No. 1 spot in the Western Conference and is currently No. 7.
Granted, Bradley Beal has missed plenty of time with injuries, and the front office’s reluctance to go after a traditional point guard has also hurt them.
Then again, Frank Vogel’s coaching has also left plenty to be desired, and he’s had plenty of excuses throughout the course of the season.
That was evident again on Saturday when he addressed the media to complain about Lu Dort, stating that the league should dig deep into his tape to put an end to all the flopping he does (Via Duane Rankin).
“The league has got to look all the flopping that Lu Dort does cause it’s ridiculous how he gets calls. If they’re going to get calls like that, then you’re going to have an advantage. You can’t just fall down every time there’s contact and get a whistle.” Frank Vogel. #Suns pic.twitter.com/totj43OfW3

This comes on the heels of their loss to the Shai Gilgeous-Alexander-less Oklahoma City Thunder.
Dort does walk on the edge more often than not, but that’s no excuse to lose a crucial matchup against a team missing it’s best player, and that has been the case with the Suns all season long.
Their offense has been predictable and stagnant at times, and their defense has been suspect, with Jusuf Nurkic failing to establish himself as a rim protector.
Whether Dort flops or not is not something we should debate right now.
But Vogel needs to take a look in the mirror and focus on getting his team ready to compete in the playoffs rather than talking about a non-star player getting a couple of calls.
