The 2023-24 NBA regular season is quickly coming to a close, with teams in the Western and Eastern Conferences starting to clinch sports in the upcoming NBA playoffs while also trying to secure the highest seeds possible in their respective conference.

One team that has an uncertain future in the postseason moving forward is the New York Knicks, who have arguably two of their best players still on the mend in Julius Randle and OG Anunoby but also have star guard Jalen Brunson playing the best basketball of his playing career thus far.

Many seem to believe that if the Knicks can’t get Randle and Anunoby back healthy before the postseason, New York won’t last long in the playoffs, as they can only lean on Brunson so much.

ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins has been bullish on the Knicks’ chances of making the Eastern Conference Finals this year, and he seems to be sticking by that stance via NBA on ESPN.

“Yes,” Perkins said. “I’m going to go down with this ship if it happens to sink. … Listen, right now the East is wide open. If they can stay away from the Boston Celtics. I believe that Jalen Brunson has the capability of dominating any series.”

Although the Knicks are a good team with Brunson leading the charge and have won seven out of their last 10 games, New York getting the best of some of the top teams in the East during a seven-game series might be a stretch without Randle and Anunoby on the floor.

However, anything can happen in the postseason, so teams can’t be ruled out until their level of play can be judged in the first round.
