Last year, the New York Jets made the bold move to make a blockbuster trade with the Green Bay Packers in order to acquire superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers and potentially add the missing piece to the championship puzzle in the Big Apple.
Unfortunately, things went terribly wrong in the first game of the season against the division-rival Buffalo Bills, with Rodgers going down with what turned out to be a season-ending Achilles injury.
Rodgers’ injury derailed the season completely for the Jets as they had to once again lean on Zach Wilson to get the job done under center, which he was unable to, which led to the team winning only seven games.
This year, the Jets are going all out once again to improve both sides of the football and get talent around Rodgers, with the latest move addressing the defense, with team owner Woody Johnson being happy about acquiring linebacker Haason Reddick in a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.
“Defense just got even stronger. Welcome to NY, @Haason7Reddick,” Johnson tweeted.

Adding Reddick is a considerable improvement for the Jets on defense, which the team already prided itself on with players like Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner.
On offense, the Jets brought in veteran wide receiver Mike Williams to be another target for Rodgers downfield and signed veteran left tackle Tyron Smith to help provide some much-needed protection for their superstar quarterback.
Although all these moves seem like steps in the right direction, it remains to be seen what the product will look like on the football field, but if it does work, New York could be a legitimate title contender in the AFC.
