The 2024 NFL Draft is at the forefront of most conversations between the league’s top analysts.

Fans are trying to figure out what prospects are going to land on what team, which causes the media to give the best possible answers to those who seek it.

This year’s class is one of the deepest in recent history, especially at the quarterback position.

With many teams looking to fill that role on their roster, it could end up being a rat race to the top, as teams hope to get their hands on the best prospect available.

Several names have been mentioned as the top quarterbacks in the class, including Drake Maye.

Some highly regard Maye, but if you ask Colin Cowherd, he sees one issue with him that could impact his ability to be successful at the highest level.

“He’s not consistent,” Cowherd said, adding, “You’ve got to be productive.”

“Caleb Williams, Bo Nix, Michael Penix. I just got massive production.”

When comparing Maye to the other quarterbacks in the class, Cowherd was worried about his lack of production at the collegiate level.

Cowherd mentioned that he is willing to look past production for players who possess “otherworldly traits” or physical abilities.

In his eyes, Maye doesn’t have a “special” build, or he doesn’t necessarily do anything particularly well that stands out.

With this in mind, Cowherd issued a cautionary tale to the NFL teams out there who might be interested in Maye.

He wasn’t able to put up as massive of numbers as Caleb Williams, Michael Penix Jr., or Bo Nix, which could translate to the NFL.
