Last year, the Memphis Grizzlies were one of the most talented young teams in the NBA, with a bona fide superstar leading the way, as point guard Ja Morant had taken his game to another level while becoming the team’s undisputed leader.

Unfortunately, Morant’s off-the-court issues became a serious problem in Memphis and ultimately seemed to derail the team’s season after the once-promising young squad had secured the second seed in the Western Conference.

Along with things falling apart due to Morant’s off-the-court struggles, the team lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the NBA playoffs, which was one of the most disappointing outcomes of the postseason.

As if things weren’t bad enough in Memphis, Morant’s season, after serving a 25-game suspension, abruptly came to an end due to a season-ending injury, resulting in the Grizzlies becoming one of the worst teams in the league.

With Morant already in offseason mode, the superstar guard has decided to part ways with his longtime agent, Jim Tanner, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant and his longtime agent Jim Tanner have parted ways, sources tell ESPN. Tanner had represented Morant since coming out of Murray State as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.

Needless to say, Morant has been making a lot of changes in his life in order to get back on track as one of the best young players in the NBA, and this is clearly a move he felt he had to make.

With the last two seasons being forgettable for obvious reasons, it’ll be interesting to see where Morant’s career goes from here and whether he can salvage what looked like a good thing he had going in Memphis.
