The New York Mets pitching staff has been decimated by injuries all year long.
Kodai Senga opened the year on the injured list, and now Tylor Megill has joined him this week.
The Mets didn’t have much depth to begin with, so they have been forced to look elsewhere for arms.
To solve their short-term need, they are bringing in an old foe to help: Julio Teheran.
“The Mets have agreed to terms on a contract with right-hander (and former Met killer) Julio Teheran, source confirms. He can help patch a rotation that has endured both injury and weather-related issues in the early season. Teheran had a 4.40 ERA for the Brewers last season,” Mets insider Anthony DiComo tweeted.

The veteran 33-year-old right-hander still has some gas left in the tank, even if his upside is not as high as it used to be.
He is more of a steady pitcher rather than the star he once was with the Atlanta Braves between 2013 and 2019.
As DiComo states, he was always competitive against the Mets, pitching to a 3.24 ERA in 175 innings vs. New York.
Finally, for once, he will be on their side.
Teheran is close to being in game shape, as he posted a solid 3.38 ERA in 13.1 spring training innings.
He walked seven and struck out 10 over that span and posted a 1.20 WHIP.
If he shows competitiveness and good form, he will likely remain in the rotation for a few weeks, at least until Senga returns from his injury sometime in mid-to-late May.
