The San Antonio Spurs entered the 2023-2024 NBA Season with more hype and hope surrounding them than in prior seasons.
They had just drafted Victor Wembanyama, one of the most exciting prospects in NBA history.
While there were a few concerns about Wembanyama in the beginning, it was quickly made clear that he was worth the hype.
Wembanyama has been consistent throughout the season, getting it done on the glass and on defense, but also as a scorer.
Despite his dominance, some of his doubters are unsure if he will win the Rookie of the Year honors due to the Spurs’ record on the year.
Dennis Scott made sure to put an end to this way of thinking in a recent appearance on NBA TV.
“I understand it, we’re all about winning… but don’t penalize him for his efforts because he plays the right way every night,” Scott said.

He believes that even though the Spurs aren’t winning at a rapid clip, Wembanyama puts his heart and soul into every game he is a part of.
In Scott’s mind, these are the qualities of a Rookie of the Year candidate, which is why he firmly believes Wembanyama will win the award.
Most Las Vegas sportsbooks have already closed the betting odds on this prop, a potential indication of what they believe is going to happen.
Wembanyama closed as a heavy favorite over Chet Holmgren, and while odds aren’t everything, this is a likely sign of what’s to come over the next several weeks.
