The rich get richer, so they say.
The Houston Texans had a complete turnaround from the 2022 to the 2023 season, going from a bottom feeder to winning the division and making it into the playoffs.
Expectations were tapered coming into C.J. Stroud’s rookie year, and he was able to deliver better than anyone expected.
After seeing what they could do with Stroud as their quarterback, the Texans got to work in the offseason, signing several marquee players to their roster.
They added Joe Mixon to their offense, a bonafide RB1 that can help take some of the pressure off Stroud.
While this was a big move to help the team out, the Texans showed that they weren’t done.
They traded for Stefon Diggs to help give Stroud another option on offense, making this team a scary opponent heading into 2024.
Chris Broussard thought highly of this move, outlining the potential implications in a recent segment of First Things First.
Not only did Broussard showcase the fact that this was a great move for the Texans, but he made sure to rub it in for the Dallas Cowboys.
“Jerry Jones, this is what all-in looks like… Houston is the best team in the AFC South and a notch between KC and Baltimore in the AFC.”

Many expected the Dallas Cowboys to make similar moves to what the Texans have done, but that has not been the case to this point.
The Cowboys and Texans both lost in the Wild Card round of the playoffs last year, but only one of the teams is taking marked strides to get better in 2024.
