The Boston Celtics clinched their 60th win the other night, giving them easily the best record in the NBA and their greatest regular season in years.

But just because the Celtics have won more than any other squad in the league doesn’t mean the work is done.

Speaking to the press, Jaylen Brown said that he’s very proud of all that his team has accomplished and the fact that they haven’t “skipped any steps” this season but he knows that the biggest challenge is ahead.

“When the playoffs start, it’s back to square one,” Brown said, via the NBA on Twitter.

“A lotta hard work went into that… when the playoffs start, it’s back to square one.”

Both Brown and Jayson Tatum have recently commented on the state of the team and being committed to not skipping any steps.

They both claim that is what happened last year: the Celtics were so focused on making the NBA Finals that they didn’t do the work necessary to get them there, which led to them losing in the Eastern Conference Finals.

The stakes for the team were already high last year but they are even higher now.

With such a strong record and a wonderful regular season, the expectations have never been more stark.

If the Celtics don’t reach at least the Eastern Conference Finals again, there will be questions about what is going wrong with the players and the coaching.

Brown and his team are happy to have found so much success but they also know that it puts a ton of pressure on them.

The Celtics next play the Sacramento Kings on Friday night, before facing the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday.

Then there are just four more games for them before the playoffs get started.

That is when the hard work really begins.
