After seemingly everyone doubted the Kansas City Chiefs’ chances of repeating as Super Bowl champions, Patrick Mahomes and company went on to do just that, with Andy Reid’s squad being as resilient as ever during the regular season and proving their worth in the NFL playoffs by coming out on top against the San Francisco 49ers in the big game.
Heading into the 2024 campaign, the Chiefs will have an opportunity to do something that no other team in the league has ever done: win three straight Super Bowls, which would significantly add to this team’s legacy.
With Mahomes and the Chiefs back on top once again, the question moving forward is whether there’s another team and quarterback that can compete with Kansas City as a rival moving forward.
The Houston Texans have made a lot of noise lately with their offseason moves and the C.J. Stroud factor, but Nick Wright of FOX Sports is not sold, as he made clear on “First Things First.”
“There are no challengers,” Wright said.
“There. Are. No. Challengers.”

There’s no doubt that Mahomes is the best quarterback in the NFL right now, as he was able to endure the criticism during the 2023 campaign and focus on the ultimate goal of winning his third Super Bowl title.
As Wright points out, there’s no one really close to him right now, statistically and from a legacy standpoint, when compared to quarterbacks in today’s game.
It’ll be interesting to see if Lamar Jackson, C.J. Stroud, Josh Allen, and/or Joe Burrow can close the gap, but as of right now, Mahomes is in a world of his own as the NFL’s elite quarterback.
