Friday night’s game was yet another terrific one for Sacramento Kings star Domantas Sabonis.

Despite the fact that his team lost by one point to the Boston Celtics, Sabonis notched another double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds, along with his 6 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block.

As pointed out by NBA History on Twitter, that was his 73rd double-double of the season, which is the most of anyone since Hakeem Olajuwon back in 1992-93, when he had 72.

To make matters more impressive, Sabonis has recorded a double-double in 60 straight games.

Sabonis has been a double-double machine all season long and is currently averaging 19.6 points and 13.7 rebounds per game, along with 8.3 assists.

He has been putting on a masterclass of scoring, nailing 59.7% of his shots from the field and he has also stepped up his three-point shooting too, to 38.3%.

This season hasn’t been as strong as the last for the Kings but Sabonis has remained just as consistent, if not more so.

The Kings are currently the eighth seed in the West with a 44-33 record, which means they are qualified for the Play-In Tournament right now.

At this point last season, they were the third seed and easily earned entry into the playoffs.

However, they didn’t make it out of the first round last year, pushed out by the Golden State Warriors.

Although they aren’t as high in the standings in 2023-24, the Kings are hoping that this postseason looks much different than the last.

Sabonis produced 16.4 points and 11 rebounds during his brief run in the 2022-23 playoffs.

If the Kings are able to return to the postseason, it seems very likely that he could do better than that this year.
