What LeBron James is doing with the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2023-24 NBA season is unprecedented, which is saying a lot considering what he’s done throughout his 21-year career in the league.

James has looked no worse for wear despite all the mileage on his body and he’s a large reason why the Lakers are looming as a potential postseason threat.

Although Los Angeles is still sitting in the ninth seed in the Western Conference standings, the team has won eight of their last nine games and can feasibly move up in the standings.

James has been mostly healthy during the regular season and that’s a testament to how well he manages to take care of his body.

James was blessed with otherworldly physical gifts and a generational basketball IQ, but the work he puts in to his body has allowed him to remain great for so long.

Gilbert Arenas believes that James is the most physically-gifted athlete he’s seen, via “Nightcap.”

“Yeah, I mean from top to bottom usually a guy isn’t built as solid as him at that height,” Arenas said.

James possesses superhuman strength, speed, and agility, which gives him natural advantages on the court.

Even at 39 years old, James is jumping higher and running faster than some of his younger peers.

However, as James has gotten older he’s begun to rely more on things like positioning and strength to score rather than simply physically overwhelming opponents.

James looks like he can play at least a couple more years of elite basketball, though he’s openly talked about how his retirement is drawing closer and closer.
