It had been years since the New York Knicks had a legitimate star.
They hoped Kristaps Porzingis was the chosen one, and he was nice for a while, and then Julius Randle also looked poised to take over, but neither was able to get over the hump.
Now, after years of searching, they’ve finally found one in Jalen Brunson.
The former Dallas Mavericks point guard has proven to be the player they’ve been craving for since Carmelo Anthony left the premises.
With that in mind, Melo shared his thoughts on Brunson, praising him for being a floor general but adding that the fact that he can also turn the corner and be an explosive scorer for them is special to watch (Via New York Basketball).
“For him to be at the helm of that right now, running the show, scoring 61s & having this run he’s having––it’s incredible to watch, to be honest w/ you,” Anthony said.

Brunson and the Knicks drew mockery and criticism when they first signed him.
People talked about how he got way more money than he would’ve gotten in Dallas despite not having proven himself.
Fast forward to today, and it’s safe to say that his contract is perhaps one of the biggest bargains in the league.
The Knicks had been lacking a floor general or legitimate franchise point guard for decades, and he’s embraced that responsibility greatly.
This team might still be a piece away but they have the assets to get another star to the Big Apple in the offseason, and there should be plenty of players lining up and looking forward to teaming up with Brunson in the Mecca.
